The aim of the programme was to increase parental engagement in their child’s academic and non-academic learning at home. The focus was on the parents of those students who belong to the ‘beginner’ category (difficulty in reading alphabet and words). • My work involved school and community visits to understand how the workshop was being conducted and to document the overall process. What started as a basic documentation of the workshop, later transformed into an active engagement with the facilitators in designing ways through which each week the workshop could be conducted in a more interactive way. • I interviewed parents, teachers, principals, students and SMC members during my school and community visits. • My work also involved designing the future intervention for LP based on qualitative research to understand the needs of the parents Saajha was working with. • Conducted a community event with the Impact Team to create a long-term association with the LP parents. These parents are mostly menial labourers, thus our interventions required an intense understanding of their situation. • I was also given the charge of managing eight interns, starting with four who assisted me in creating the report for the Longitudinal Programme. • I later worked with Saajha's Scale team for the Parental Workshop (PW) that is being conducted in 1024 Government Schools in Delhi under Mission Buniyaad started by the Delhi Government. • My work initially started off by documenting the workshop, but the report that I compiled extensively provides initiatives that could be incorporated in the Parental Workshop whenever it is organised again in future. • Additionally, I was delegating work to the interns based on their needs. Thus, a large part of my internship required to understand the aspirations of the interns, and to assign projects accordingly.
