Lucy joined Evolution as part of a work placement from Gamer Camp and quickly established herself as a talented member of the Finishing Team. Lucy has excellent ability and managed to adapt skills forged on her Course to an active game development environment. Lucy delivered high quality hard surface and organic models, to specification and on time. She has worked hard on less glamorous aspects of game art production such as LOD chain development and Optimisation. She has shown tremendous enthusiasm and professionalism during some of the more challenging moments in Driveclub production and is recognised as a valuable member of the Art Team.

At Secret Sorcery I've had the opportunity to work on the God-sim, Tethered for PlayStation VR, using Unreal Engine 4. Working in VR has brought new artistic challenges, I now face different artistic considerations; namely performance and clever use of detail and optimisation techniques. Furthermore, working as part of a small independent studio has allowed me to broaden my skillset. • Create high poly geometry • Create low poly geometry • Use hand-painted texturing techniques • Create concept artwork to support 3D production • Create production quality 2D artwork • Create marketing and promotional materials • Code, design and animate a theme for the PlayStation 4 • Use UE4 to dress and decorate levels • Concept and Design UI • Play with Particle Systems Show less

At Evolution Studios, my position of Junior Environment Artist has given me the opportunity to experience all elements to game art production, from asset design and creation, to optimising the final game mesh. I have been able to streamline my pipeline, speed up my workflow and improve my creativity, technical skills and knowledge and efficiency. • Creating game ready objects and structures• Creating high poly geometry • Using and understand PBR • Retopology of high poly for baking and final game mesh• UV mapping, both tiling and unique• Baking texture maps and masks• Vertex painting • Optimising and cleaning up game geometry• LOD meshes, including geometry and shader reduction• Supporting the Finishing Art Team Show less

I was offered a Sony Scholarship as part of an initiative for studying for my Masters Degree at Birmingham City University. Part of the scholarship included the opportunity to work as an intern at SCEE Evolution Studios. This has been the most fundamental component to my education, I improved (both knowledge and ability) tenfold during my short time as an intern. • Creating game ready objects• Creating high poly geometry• Retopology of high poly and mesh creation• UV mapping and baking• LOD meshes and optimisationsOnce my internship was completed I was offered full-time employment at Evolution Studios as a Junior Environment Artist.
