UC 2022-761 (2021). • Spearhead simulation-based computational study of novel metasurfaces to improve reflection of deep ultraviolet light. • Devise both top-down and bottom-up device structures for compatibility with various growth methods. • Define metasurface parameter space required to attain over 90% reflectance for all DUV wavelengths. Low Temperature Photoluminescence Analysis • Optimize and improve a laser benchtop setup to take LTPL measurements of red LED materials. • Use LabVIEW State Machines to interface spectrometer, laser power modulator, and cryogenic pump. • Analyze data using MATLAB and draw conclusions regarding internal quantum efficiency of photonic materials. III-Nitride LED Characterization • Performed data processing on and characterized optical data for strain, relaxation, and emission in III-nitride semiconductor materials. • Initialized automation of processing, computing, and analysis on experiment data, resulting in both minimal user interaction and higher quality data. • Constructed various MATLAB functions and modules to spatially resolve, analyze, and plot Raman and photoluminescence spectra. • Developed my own rudimentary signal processing algorithm to effectively target and remove certain interference anomalies in our data. • Implemented multiple-peak fitting and other statistical tools to deconvolute overlapping spectrum peaks, allowing the research group to analyze and track complex spectrum peaks in composite materials. • Fostered remote research environment for lab group with my MATLAB programs, allowing the group to continue analysis automatically and remotely, without the need of hefty applications.
