Samantha Ugulava
Kira joined my Insights team at Robin and immediately made an impact. Sometimes it feels like she has x-ray vision — she cuts through layers of technical information and translates it to a wider audience. She’s able to strip away the extraneous stuff without dumbing down the thinking. As a PM, she’s a great engineering partner to me because her antenna goes up when the engineers are getting too far into the weeds. She has a finely tuned sense of what’s helpful or hurtful to keep the team focused. She can read the team, sometimes using body language and tone, to see when something is off and gently but firmly asks questions to help us get back on track. For example, she is SO good at advocating for technical tasks in our backlog and prioritizing stability and quality over straight feature development. As soon as she joined the team, she started advocating for improvements like testing coverage, style guides, source code maps, and a new charting library. The best part is when she asks to prioritize a ticket, she can walk through the business value — saving time, higher quality, etc. Kira has been a partner to me in pushing our engineers to experiment and trust our users to give us feedback. Kira is not afraid to put work out there and let the customer guide our next steps.
