Making digital illustrations in my free time, inspired by my own life or just my imagination. https://www.instagram.com/danzi_schmanzi/ It started as a way to relax while writing my PhD, further developed during my studies Digital Storytelling (e.g. experimenting with VR). Communication Studies Submitted doctoral thesis about media, debate and democracy. Title: 'Little debate: media pluralism and the transition from a pillarized to a commercialized newspaper landscape (Flanders, 1960-2014)' Specifically, the goal was to determine when (if ever) the Flemish newspaper landscape allowed for broad debates about how to organize our society. I focussed on socio-economic issues, and I took into account the change from political to commercial newspapers. I concluded that, over the past half a decade, the Flemish press has hardly contributed to fundamental discussions about socio-economic policy. I end with a critical reflection on the notion of 'objectivity', instead pleading for more 'transparency' in journalism. https://www.uantwerpen.be/en/staff/danielle-raeijmaekers/publications/
