Works involved completing gauge standardisation to convert the existing broad-gauge track to standard gauge whilst also increasing axle load bearing capacity and forming continuously welded rail. Responsibilities:• Oversee and manage works of free & destress welding, turnout regauging, tie replacement, ballasting;• Successful management of destressing works for 256km’s of track from Dunolly to Mildura;• Management of onsite costs;• Monitoring of construction progress;• Dealing with an increased scope of works (60% increase to that of originally specified);• Coordinationor of client/contractor site walk-downs to establish quality, scope, snagging (punch) lists;• Mentoring and training of undergraduate engineers with regards to quality, costing and technical works for rail construction & maintenance processes.
