  Able is one of the lowest-cost online lenders to small businesses in the nation. Our passion is to fund businesses at any stage with a new kind of loan that lets borrowers source more capital at lower rates as they recruit some support from friends, family and fans. On average, Able’s borrowers save $31,000 on loans between $25,000 and $1,000,000. Along with underwriting loan applications, I oversee our loan processing. This first entails procuring accurate and complete financials and bank statements. Next, we analyze key metrics and assign a grade to the application. For qualified loans, we formulate a conditional offer based on metrics, owner credit profiles, and proposed loan use. At this point, the loan is ready to enter underwriting and will be assigned to either myself or another underwriter at Able. As an underwriter, I make loan approval/rejection decisions based on comprehensive risk analysis and due diligence. We speak with potential borrowers to understand their business model, goals, and financial statements. We calculate key metrics such as Debt Service Coverage, understand the business' future capital needs, and analyze the viability of the business itself. Finally, we compile a final analysis with an approval or rejection decision. If approved, we set the loan amount, term length, interest rate, minimum requirement from backers, and any other contingencies based on the analysis performed.
