Chantz Drake has redefined the Field Engineering role at Cudd Pressure Control. He is a well rounded individual with with a professional skill set that is still being discovered. A good work ethic with excellent problems solving skills, a drive for continuous learning, and attention to detail are just a few of his myriad of abilities. He has propelled our engineering group in technologies that we have not had in the past and improved the efficiencies of our entire organization. It is a pleasure working with Chantz.

Chantz has been a great help both inside and out of the classroom. Chantz has taken a leadership role in our student research lab, and has helped several other students start developing software, including a virtual reality application. Chantz has been a great addition to the team, and I am confident that all of our students at SWOSU are better because of his time here.

As CUDD is a smaller company, in this role I’ve had the opportunity to wear more ‘hats’ than many oilfield engineers get to in the course of their day-to-day work. I really have enjoyed the variety and challenge the role provides. My main job duties at CUDD are as follows.. • Providing engineering / technical support to coiled tubing operations, working in the field as needed to support ongoing Coiled Tubing / Nitrogen / and Fluid Pumping operations. • Write job designs and proposals as needed, and work in conjunction with Sales Team to fulfill client requests. • Undertake pre-job modelling using software tools such as the Cerberus and Orion product suites from CTES/NOV • Track string fatigue, design new strings, and oversee the retirement of old strings at end of useful life. • Ensure that all job documentation is recorded properly, and prepare post job report summaries for completed work. • Troubleshoot and repair field equipment, gauges, and measurement devices. • Data communication/networking installation and troubleshooting, and various other IT support tasks. Additional projects outside the scope of my day-to-day work include.. • Coding utility applications for various purposes ranging from informational displays, to cross platform mobile apps, remote tools for automatically syncing field data back to the office, and several data manipulation and modeling tools for Coiled Tubing, Snubbing, Wireline, and Pumping service lines. ׇ• Design and implement equipment modifications. • Meticulously document performance metrics to provide insight into job performance beyond what has previously been available. • Creating and deliver technical presentations for both internal and external audiences. • Working on projects to improve in-field data acquisition and remote live-job monitoring capabilities for Coiled Tubing / Snubbing and potentially other product lines as well.
