Also as part of my role I am also responsible for the Control of First Hull Trains for their Hull to London service delivery, and also Lumo and their Edinburgh to London service delivery and operational control. Typical core role functions include in the moment management of safety incidents and accidents, and also management of the impact to the Train Service Delivery element on the network. Implementing and devising contingency plans and work arounds to ensure minimal disruption to the customer journey when incidents do occur. This is achieved by working closely with Network Rail and their teams who manage the national infrastructure and ensuring we are in unison in the execution of safe work arounds to keep the railway and the passengers of the North journeys continue to keep running seamlessly.Strategic management of the fleet, ensuring diesel and bi-mode units have enough fuel for service, and cycle through depots for required maintenance. Ensuring the fleet is running safely, and any in-service defects on trains are not compromising safely, removing trains with technical issues out of traffic and devising creative solutions when spare units are not available to minimise impact to the customer journey.
