I had the privilege of coaching Rashaad (Shaadie) for his talk at TEDxSaltLakeCity. His mind is a breeding ground of original thought and he brought a fresh concept to our stage that left the audience fascinated. Shaadie approached this opportunity with an eye for detail and an aim for perfection. He rolled up his sleeves, developed the script, memorized it verbatim, and worked out blocking for the stage that was smooth and natural. It takes a lot of effort to look that effortless. The man has style and presence that immediately capture the attention of a crowd; he confidently delivers his material with a twinkle in his eye. Shaadie’s easy charisma is probably what draws most people’s attention, but my favorite thing about him is his humility. Shaadie is remarkably coachable, accepting feedback with grace while remaining true to himself. He can be trusted to work independently and never misses a deadline. Most of all, while he often seeks out quiet corners to think, he is a supportive and appreciative friend to all his colleagues.
