I just finished taking a week long class at the Chautauqua Institute called Improv for Actors taught by Evan Gore. The five day course covered the basic foundations of successful improv from being in the moment to "yes and" to trusting your partner. The members of the 15 student class ranged in age from 13 to over 60 and Evan kept us all engaged and active in the creative, challenging and incredibly fun art of improv. Evan clearly knows his stuff and at the end of the course I felt like we all had an opportunity to experience a variety of improv methods from group play to mime and scene work. I loved the Freeze Tag and the scene work although I learned that I need to trust more. Evan is a great teacher - he reads the level of experience of the people in the room and helped us all achieve a better understanding of the art of improv. He is well prepared, extremely knowable and great at providing feedback in a positive yet constructive manner. As Evan says, improv takes a moment to learn and a life time to master - he certainly inspired me to want to learn more and the next chance I have to take a class from him I will certainly do so! Great fun and super value.

Evan Gore is fantastic. I've hired him numerous times -- to rewrite and punch up screenplays, to be the head writer on an animated TV series, and as the voice director of three animated movies. He is funny, endlessly inventive, has great story sense, and is highly collaborative. He's also an improv comedian, director, and teacher. This plus his writing ability is a killer combo: As a writer he has keen insight into what will work on its feet; and as a voice director he is able to shape performances so that they don't just entertain but also deliver on key character details and story points. Hire him!
