With a growing footprint, VEDC has lent $400 million in direct and guaranteed loans to over 108,000 small businesses to create and retain more than 200,600 new jobs. VEDC’s mission, as a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), is to help create jobs and promote small business development in under-served communities. What I Did: - Ensured wonderful customer experience by addressing 15 online loan applicants per week via phone call or email to inform them of if and how much they could qualify for based on information they stated on website’s application fields if they can support that data with proper documentation and handling over 15 weekly inbound chats answering questions pertaining to loan application process and company’s business services. - Outputted three to four completed loan packages from personal and business development officers’ pipelines of up to 10 qualified applicants to underwriting team on weekly basis by collecting and reviewing sensitive information and business documents such as identification, business plans, business entity documentation, car titles and/or deeds of trust proposed as collateral, and personal and/or business bank statements & tax returns. - Conducted up to five preliminary assessments per week for applicants who came to office for walk-in interview, call-in applicants, or online applicants to determine feasibility of potential client’s eligibility for desired loan amount, based on factors including business plan coherence, proposed collateral’s current market value and business and personal financials. What I Did: - Prepared comprehensive loans receivable reports for two program budget revisions for various Los Angeles City regions for same contract amounting to over $650,000 to identify cost distribution changes within budget’s detailed breakdown and line item narrative explanations, which included Budget Summary, Budget Detail, Schedule of Personnel, Spending Plan Worksheet, and Narrative Worksheet for Proposed Line Item. The loan reports were to account for current standing of service payback and cash payback loans to City from different borrowers. - Reviewed and processed over 1,500 application packets per week regarding Los Angeles enterprise zone business voucher incentives for employers who hired employees qualified for government assistance, verifying that all program eligibility requirements are met. The packets included highly confidential employee information. After review, the packets were sent back to assigned tax consultant for auditing purposes following approval or employers upon rejection. - Interviewed 100+ SYEP participants and supervisors to record complaints, concerns, & SYEP’s overall progress, along with over dozen worksite reviews to assess job site conditions for safety & adequate operations. Recorded grievances and other complaints from Summer Youth Employment Program participants and supervisors to log concerns and safe for data compiling and analyzing purposes.
