This is accomplished through research and analysis, public advocacy leadership, and partnership with the private sector. Some have called superhot rock (SHR) the “holy-grail” of geothermal energy. This is because, in most of the world, SHR could provide competitive, zero-carbon, dispatchable power and could support zero-carbon hydrogen fuel production. It is one of the very few high-energy-density, zero-carbon resources that could replace fossil energy around the globe. As Chief of Geothermal Innovation I am working within the newly formed Super Hot Rock (SHR) Geothermal Team with the goal of advocating and pursuing SHR globally. We advise and define play-risk and make recommendations on which prospects the teams should mature. We propose timelines and make recommendations on the data required and work to be done to mature upcoming leads and prospects. • My role incorporates peer-review and mentoring of younger professionals. Mentoring ranges from structural-stratigraphic interpretation to prospect maturation. • A key responsibility is to build relationships and develop cross collaboration with Aramco Research in Beijing, Houston, Dhahran and to introduce key external collaborations with relevant research groups.

Initiated provenance and GDE studies in an attempt to better delineate key reservoir facies within known fields. Products were to be used within Petrel reservoir models to attempt to increase production. Examined the role of structural inheritance within a prolific hydrocarbon basin. • Proposed and wrote scope of project plans to investigate petroleum system analysis of key source rock intervals to better understand (1) fluid phase and distribution within the reservoir and (2) charge history. The aim was to better predict why gas was present in the reservoir, where it came with a view to improving development scenarios. Show less
