ONPHA represents 700 community housing organizations across Ontario. I lead revenue-generation and strategic partnerships, which support our members and sustain the various programs and services we deliver. Within my first year and a half at ONPHA, I revamped and re-launched a 20-year old group purchasing program, increased sponsorship revenue by 30% across the board, and built long-term partnerships with companies across Canada. Director, Business Development & Marketing

Jul 2016 - Sep 2017
SPN is the largest on-site solar power company in Canada and Japan. I joined SPN at a time when the BD team's focus was shifting from midsize businesses to large corporations. I worked with the Chief Commercial Officer to build a new strategy and change management plan to reach these enterprise customers and navigate longer sales cycles, RFP processes, more complex due diligence and organizational hierarchies. Within my first five months, I built a substantial BD pipeline with warm leads in sectors like retail, manufacturing and technology, while closing partnership agreements worth significant revenue to SPN. SPN had also never invested heavily in marketing. Among my more meaningful achievements were kickstarting our social media presence, revamping our suite of print and digital promo materials, and drafting our first direct mail campaign (which outperformed all expectations of response rates and eventual revenue to SPN).

Business Development Officer

Mar 2014 - Jun 2016
The DMZ is Canada’s largest and top ranked university business incubator for technology startups. I was the first hire for the new Business Development division, formed to seek out revenue both for our startup companies and for the DMZ itself. In less than two years, I built revenue-generating partnerships with several Fortune 100 companies and a number of other global firms, exceeding our targets and creating a BD pipeline for industries in which we previously had little exposure. On behalf our startups, I managed a team of staff to create the DMZ's most successful event series, connecting our entrepreneurs with customers and venture capital. Many of the resulting deals were over $100,000 in value and were the first revenue our startup companies had received. I consider this among my proudest accomplishments at the DMZ.

Managing Editor

Dec 2009 - May 2013
Nearshore Americas is a media firm focused on outsourcing and business investment in emerging markets. I joined Nearshore Americas in the early days of the company. My core focus was producing content and managing a team of writers to grow our readership, much of which was C-level decision makers in large North American firms. We evaluated investment opportunities for these leaders, interviewing government officials and analyzing the political/business climate in key emerging markets. From a business development perspective, this role taught me how a small company with limited resources can punch far above its weight simply by cultivating strategic relationships. By the time I left, we had built Nearshore Americas into the premier authority on Latin American outsourcing.

The Center for International Relations (CIR) is a political and current events think tank headquartered in the US. I was brought on to launch CIR's local presence, and founded the Canadian edition of the company's newsletter to gain increased exposure. Collaborating with the Editorial Director, I wrote a number of political research reports and managed the largest Canadian CIR event in concert with the United Nations Foundation. IRSAM is a student-run organization hosting political and UN-related conferences to debate relevant global issues. In this role, I managed 150 logistical and events staff to run a conference for over 1400 delegates at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Montreal. Event management on that scale was a first for me, and it was a terrific learning experience which I loved.
