Bryan is an exceptional Project Director and facilitator that I’ve always looked up to during my time at Empact. In the several projects I’ve worked with Bryan on, as the Project Director he was clear in his overall strategic direction, while meticulous in the details. At times he was able to detach himself from the day-to-day work and look at the project from a more holistic lens, ensuring that it aligns with the needs and objectives of the client. This lends the team a lot of confidence that the output of the projects would be of value to the client, and by extension, the social sector. In addition, Bryan is a hands-on yet empowering leader. On one hand, he works with his team members closely to co-create solutions. At the same time, he provides enough space and opportunities for team members to stretch themselves and take ownership of certain parts of the project. In that way, he could warn us of any risks, troubleshoot with us, while concurrently enabling the team to feel empowered and well-supported. Separately I also worked with Bryan to drive internal initiatives. His knowledge in adult learning and curriculum design, coupled with his interest in the learning & development of his colleagues, has been an immense help when I piloted a peer-learning monthly programme at Empact. My biggest takeaway was witnessing how he was able to translate his diverse experiences and expertise into teaching materials and be generous in sharing these with the team. Beyond work-related matters, what I appreciate Bryan the most for is how he takes time to build rapport with individual team members. He takes it upon himself to check in on our well-being, as well as to provide prompt feedback to help us be better versions of ourselves. Yet he remains humble and spends time improving himself too. I have no doubt that Bryan will continue to impact the social sector meaningfully.
