During my time working with the Bird Lab, I worked independently to transcribe bird nesting behaviors from trail cameras in Arizona and Malaysia. This position required little supervision and extreme attention to detail to accurately account for subtle bird movements. I began working with the Humane Society of Western Montana (HSWM) as a volunteer that worked almost exclusively with their hard to place dogs. I worked as a "Paws Ahead" dog trainer which was responsible for using positive reinforcement techniques to work with unsocialized, excitable, and dogs with other nondesirable behaviors to increase their chance of being adopted. During this time, I also helped with daily animal care including diet preparation, administering medications, wellness exams, and animal intakes. In the summer of 2014, I worked as a camp counselor for their Critter Camp. I co-led all camp activities including creating a safe and engaging environment for our campers around a variety of animals and teaching life-long skills regarding pet care, animal safety, and training. In 2015 I was made the lead counselor and helped to restructure the camp.In 2014 I became the lead Outreach presenter, taking adoptable dogs to schools, daycare facilities, and community functions to teach on a variety of pet-related topics. While I was an outreach presenter, I helped expand our program to three additional schools. In 2014, with the help of HSWM I was able to also offer a new reptile based outreach program that I also led until I moved in 2017.

While working with Montana FWP, in teams of 2-8 individuals, I operated hunter check stations across western Montana, under the guidance of a park ranger. We collected data from successful and unsuccessful hunters relating to the districts they hunted in, what wildlife they saw in those districts, and what cities and states they traveled from. On successful hunts, we identified the animals, checked hunter tags and license to ensure all laws were followed, and then aged any ungulates. In the end, we worked together to compile all the data to evaluate and illustrate trends in the population compared to the previous year.

Orchestrated 10 summer camps and two public events where I provided educational experiences regarding Montana's ecosystems and wildlife safety. I provided hands on opportunities to guests to meet a variety of animals, as well as, leading a community project for all the summer campers to collectively build a new, bioactive enclosure for the Center's resident gopher snake. I was an original employee at this store location and helped to set up the store. I remained a loyal employee who trained 12 store partners, and 4 upper-level management on optimal animal care practices. I was awarded the Employee of the Month on 6 occasions. I instituted a weekly “Did You Know” board where I presented up-to-date pet care standards and shared them with my team. By doing this, I established a reliable reputation for our store between our customers and staff. Managers had this to say about me:“Branna has exceeded expectation with connecting people to their pets and growing partner knowledge by instituting a weekly "The More You Know” board. She is willing to share her knowledge and ask for guidance when necessary. She plans out her work and always puts store plans into action and works well with the team. Branna provides service that lives up to our brand and is driven to give quality animal care.” -Brian Fitzgerald, GM. 2016

Licensed Property Manager

May 2011 - Aug 2012
I was hired as a seasonal secretary and kept on as the permanent secretary due to my strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve conflict swiftly while keeping a friendly and professional demeanor. Within a few months, I became a licensed property manager, one of the youngest in the state at the time. I was known for my bright attitude, efficiency, and dependability. I orchestrated a companywide volunteer day to spread our presence in the community by collaborating with the Humane Society of Western Montana. I oversaw the management for a portfolio of 275 properties, facilitating property inspections, screening applications, responding to complaints, and the enforcement resident policy. Additionally, I supervised the finances for properties regarding rent, security deposits, move-outs, maintenance, and resident delinquencies. During this time I also became our primary marketing developer, where I designed and executed new marketing strategies to showcase properties which led to a 12% increase in occupancy. I was also designated as the office representative where I was tasked with assembling and presenting leasing reports during weekly interdepartmental meetings. My primary focus was to promote service-based relationships with residents, owners, departments, and contractors while serving as the first line of communication for the department.
