As the Commercial Operations Manager, I directly manage the Executions and Solutions Desk and am involved in liaising with brokers, business clients and industry bodies regarding industrial and commercial energy supply and supporting services. Ensuring all business functions are commercially viable whilst focussing on streamlining the customer journey, internal processes, relationships with third parties, risk assessment and ensuring sustainable growth within the business. Critically assessing current business process, perceived areas of improvement and viable solutions whilst ensuring new methods are simple, accurate and time effective.-Established and developed new product channels such as; flex products, pass-through products, new connections, PPA’s, battery optimisation, DSR, EV supply and charger installation;-Forecasting gas and power non-commodity costs;-Generating and inputting gas and power wholesale prices for our pricing system whilst monitoring wholesale prices throughout the day;-Writing commodity market reports and insights;-Trading and managing ROC, REGO, CER, GHG and GoO certificates for our portfolio; -Managing and maintaining our gas and power demand forecast;-Executing power and gas trades, producing position reports, mark to market reports and reforecasts for flex clients;-Writing, reviewing and agreeing commercial agreements, terms and conditions and supply frameworks;-Critically assessing the risk involved with the business’s commercial operations and decisions;-Creating SQL queries and running existing queries to retrieve specific data;-Planning for current and future targets, expectations and objectives for the business with directors and senior management;-Compiling reports on commercial dealings, non-commodity costs, flex clients, management accounts and team and business performance;-Planning and facilitating training for all departments. I started working with Brook Green Supply as a Business Support Advisor as we began to supply our first meter points. I had the opportunity to contribute to the way the business was set up and creating a stable foundation for the business to grow from. I quickly began working on tenders to bring in large, key clients and using my knowledge of the industry to manage the point of sale through to registration and billing. As we began to take on more members of staff, I took a more senior role of leading the support team as well as being involved in the recruitment process.The responsibilities of the role include:-Key account management- Building and managing new and existing key accounts;-Maintain the customer base - Resolution of customer queries regarding billing, metering, payment arrangements, meter readings and general contract queries;-Electricity and gas subject matter expert;-Mine, aggregate, analyse data and produce relevant reports;-Future planning- Planning for future targets, expectations and objectives for the business with directors and senior management. Balloon Kenya is a voluntary summer internship for selected students from across the world based in Nakuru, Kenya. Balloon Kenya is an award winning social enterprise working to defeat poverty through entrepreneurship. The final week of the program sees the entrepreneurs pitch for micro-finance.
