I have worked with Philip for the last four years on a range of different animation systems. He was always a pleasure to work with, being both creative and technically minded he was never too busy to meet up and talk over any issues, or even helping me out on something completely separate and unrelated to his work. We worked together on some very complex systems and throughout the projects he was always willing to push for a better or more creative solution, nothing was ever ruled out or was too much trouble he worked tirelessly to get his systems to be the best they could be. Philip always thinks not only as a dev but also as a gamer and is sympathetic to the animation work and the knock on work that his work will have with animations and other in game areas as well as keeping what is truly important - the feel of how the game is playing. His problem solving skills are excellent and he is a really nice guy, super easy to talk to and get along with! As an animator working in games I cant recommend him enough! He is the kind of developer you always want to work with and I hope I get the chance to work with him again in the future!

I found Phlip to be an excellent engineer and a great pleasure to work with. His efforts on the green field project which included adapting to using new technologies within the site, and completing both his coding and documentation effectively, were recognised by his peers. He participated actively in technical design discussions with senior engineers and technical leads alike. Philip was extremely punctual and on many occasions showed his dedication to the team by working additional hours to ensure the delivery of the project. I look forward to having the opportunity to work with Philp again in the future.

After my graduation I spent the summer Designing and implementing games with a group of my friends. We created a primitive game engine, in C++ using the Super Fast Multimedia Library, which we used to make a geometry wars inspired game called Bacterium. I Interned as a Software Engineer while at AOL. I was also a scrum master for the last 2 months of my internship. I helped design, documented, test and implement a distributed system called Data Provider Revenue Report version 2. While there I was one of the first to prototype a MapReduce job for the system and prototype the initial workflow for the system which involved a script which ran the MapReduce jobs sequencially, managed directory inputs and outputs and error handling. I learned loads and thoroughly enjoyed my time working with my team at AOL, and I would have no problems working for them again. Show less
