As a unit in the Division of Student Affairs, direct and manage Mercer University's Center for Career and Professional Development supporting all student, alumni, faculty, and employer stakeholders in the development of career education, career identification and search, and pursuit of employment opportunities commensurate with formal academic pursuits. Continually evaluate and enhance the scope of services to ensure the provision of the widest array of services possible to the broadest mix of academic and corporate stakeholders. With the mission of increasing communication and coordination of external partnerships across the University, and facilitating connection with industry, co-lead the Mercer University Corporate Relations Council. Daily work includes teaching college students of all academic levels how to: -- discover their personal values, skills, and personality and use that self-knowledge in career and life decision-making -- write an effective resume and cover letter -- conduct a modern and competitive job search -- change careers -- explore the world of work -- network and build relationships -- research and negotiate salary offers -- enhance their personal branding Utilizing modern teleconferencing platforms (Webex, Zoom, Google Meet, Canvas, MS Teams, etc.), I am highly skilled at working remotely and providing distance career counseling, a vital means to increase service accessibility to Mercer students and alumni across the state of Georgia, and beyond. I am an active member of Mercer University's Student Affairs team across the state and enjoy serving the co-curricular and career development needs of a diverse student population, including Post-Traditional Learners, Professional School and Ph.D. Learners, Residential and Distance Learners, Individuals with Disabilities, Military-Connected, and Veteran Students. I enjoy serving each year as an eager volunteer for Mercer's annual commencement ceremony where I am moved to witness students go across that stage and achieve their life dream of earning their degree! I especially love when the children of our post-traditional learners have their posters held high, shout loudly, and cheer for their parents who are earning degrees and modeling that it is never too late for education!
