Emily is a really valuable member of the HealthUnlocked team, and I'd recommend her to anyone looking for a hardworking and professional Front-end Developer. She has good all-round technical skills, is a great communicator both in co-located and remote/async situations, and is just a really positive and lovely person to work with! She is also someone who will take initiative to improve process for the whole team - for example researching and implementing Cypress as our new standard for E2E testing. I hope I'll get the chance to work with her again at some point in the future!

Emily has been a terrific addition to the Metrics team since joining us in late 2012. Her analytical skills and ability to create and understand new ways to break down and display data have been invaluable as the department continues to grow. She is hard working, dedicated and is always looking for the next improvement she can make to our day to day data capture systems. She picks ups things quickly and accurately and has developed an excellent side-line in training. She is calm, level headed and able to deliver clear, concise training. Emily is also a fun, bubbly and lovely person to have around the team. Working with her is never anything less than enjoyable. I have huge faith in Emily's abilities and her work ethic.

Frontend Developer

Jun 2018 - Mar 2021
HealthUnlocked is the world's largest social network for health support, with 1 million members across the globe, and growing. As a frontend developer at HealthUnlocked I: - Collaborated with cross-functional teams on product and technical specifications - Developed new user-facing features and maintained the HealthUnlocked website to deliver the best experience for the millions of users on the platform. New features I have implemented include: - A global search functionality for posts, communities and members - Added the cypress testing framework to the frontend codebase - Worked with and communicated technical constraints, approaches and concepts to a range of stakeholders (e.g. product manager, support team, commercial teams) - Planned, estimated and tracked work to meet agreed product/business priorities - Tested code for performance, accessibility, usability, cross-browser compatibility and reliability - Stayed up-to-date with the latest technologies and helped to ensure that regular maintenance and updates to the codebase were planned by the team - Provided Out of Hours (OoH) issue triage and support as part of the OoH support rota Show less

Ruby Developer
-
Jan 2016 - Jun 2018
I started off as a junior Ruby developer working on their video player and both the potential customer website and members site. Then after dabbling in some frontend JavaScript work I taught myself React and fell in love with it. I also implemented a new vzaar design system which is when I decided to pursue frontend development with React.
