I know Professor Lon Kaufmann since August 2011. He was working as a Visiting Fulbright Professor in my department (Department of Computer Systems Software, National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute") during an academic year 2011/2012. Professor Kaufmann taught "Web-Design and Social Media" course for students of the 2nd and the 4th years of the Bachelor Program "Software Engineering". Students attended lectures of Professor Kaufmann with great interest. My own opinion is that Professor Kaufmann is a highly qualified professional. He successfully combines professional knowledge and creative approach in his work. Professor Kaufmann is an author of many photo-montages, some of them have been presented in an exhibition at the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" in April 2012.

Lon was my assistant dean of my department, I was directly reporting to him, as a head of the department he was a really skillful and responsible person. He was not only a team player but also a a great mentor who helped me on many occasions, I have learned a lot from him and so does the students too. Lon's interest in sculpture, photography, and web design always kept him exploring new materials and advance technologies in the field, he used to always share his new ideas and projects with me, and also encourages me and his students to stay up to date and explore new advance tools in the market. I highly recommend him for any director level academic position because I believe that he can boost up any university's reputation.

As visiting professor I instructed a course "Web Design and Social Media" with the students in the Faculty of Informatics during Fall and Spring semesters. The course provided an overview of the history of the Internet up to the current state of rapid expansion into all areas of human endeavor. Students followed a step-by-step tutorial to reconstruct a WordPress website containing various social media functions. On completion of the tutorial, students customized their sites, using your own theme and content. Show less
