Staging of Petrushka in collaboration with the Houston Symphony conducted by Andrés Orozco Estrada. In this Performance, Andrés Orozco Estrada furthers his vision to bring a fresh perspective to works that have been performed for decades, or often centuries, through this contemporary interpretation of the ballet Petrushka. Since mid- April, students from Crespo Elementary Fine Arts Magnet School and Meyerland Performing Visual Arts Middle School have worked with the Choreographer Gabriel Galindez Cruz (Children dance company Sasha Waltz & Guests) and Emilio H. Díaz Abregú to reshape and adapt Petrushka story to reflect their understanding of our contemporary world. After highlighting the advantages of working on a traditional theatre they were challenged during the practical part of the masterclass to confront specific production requirements in a non conventional set up contrasting the differences between Traditional and Temporary theatre structures.
