Corey was one of my first hires at Thomson Reuters Labs' Design Team. He came in with solid design chops, excellent communication and networking skills, and a drive to continue learning and improving. He's someone who can approach a problem with no prior domain expertise (e.g., legal workflows or accounting software), quickly work with customers and stakeholders to look for opportunities and collaborate on solutions, and then prototype, design and code to show what's possible. He grounds his work in customer-centric business cases, and is not afraid to challenge the brief or manage up when required. Corey earned the highest performance ratings for two years running and was a big part of why our team was successful.

I've been working with Corey in the context of Thomson Reuters' implementation of the SALI legal-data standard. In short: I've been very impressed with Corey's intelligence and extraordinary skills. Importantly, Corey is smart and talented. To any suggestion, Corey can very quickly both (1) comprehend and (2) "yes and" — providing additional insights and value. Corey has remarkable technical skills, being able to transform data in ways that will accommodate various systems. His ability to think of data-systems architecture is impressive. Beyond his technical skills, Corey also has impressive team-building skills. Being able to implement a project as wide-ranging as an open-source standard that allows disparate products/systems to interoperate — particularly in an organization as large as Thomson Reuters — is a herculean task. Corey has done just that — and the legal industry is becoming better as a result. Working with Corey is a joy. Many in legal tech don't get the big picture — the important work necessary to make the industry better. Corey gets it. And he's doing that hard, necessary, important work. I look forward to continuing to work with him.
