    • SRE - Software Engineer
      • Feb 2019 - Jun 2021

Working with primarily Go and Python I helped with the platform and managed tools teams under the SRE vertical for Bethesda.net. AWS and Azure management and development for communicating with the API's were the areas of knowledge I used to assist the product teams in deploying and maintaining their software. Supporting the logging service was another major area through a lot of my employment with Bethesda.net. Reviewing code bases and approving for merges on the repositories, we used Jira and proper scrum-based project management. I would help design and plan Epics. I was also responsible for executing and delivering the initiatives we planned in a timely manner.

After my work with BI was complete on the infrastructure side as well as several other accomplishments for the up-and-coming Zenimax BI team I decided to move back to Bethesda.net and continue work on the company platform. I continued work on the Splunk deployments for the company and we expanded for Fallout 76 and other new releases that are coming up. Docker, Salt Stack, Terraform and Kubernetes are part of my tool set. Cloud provider agnostic knowledge. Still with my focus on data, I aid teams around the world with data ingestion, structuring, pipelines, and organization. Solving complex issues with Splunk and a range of our other services. Architecture of Infrastructure as Code.

Working with Operation and Business Intelligence I now support the BI department for Zenimax Media Incorporated. Developing robust, high available solutions for the Data Analysts that give the rest of the company specific reports for various business needs. My work is focused on Splunk for operational data. Heavy use of AWS for horizontally autoscaling environments to support solutions like Tableau and data streaming from on-site premises to S3. SQL is a large part of the work I will do as well. Data Modeling for the new data that needs to be in our Data Warehouse. Python and Java are also languages that our tools use. NiFi Engineering is a large part of my task load. I do have several solutions I work to automate or stabilize for the internal needs of the BI department.

I operate and engineer the digital platform that our studio's games need to work from. This job requires a large amount of knowledge from every aspect of the IT industry. I used chef for configuration management. ESXi and many VCenter tools were used to complete tasks. Deployment of systems and auditing of resources. Recommendations on how to design infrastructure for games, web applications, internal and external tool, etc. We as a team push for redundant capable, robust applications that are manageable from an operational standpoint and have security that ensures the companies privacy. Elder Scrolls Online is one of our major products and I work on operations for this environment. I am currently play testing "certain games" for their upcoming release. I deploy game builds for the studios across large infrastructures. Assist in major maintenance events as well as take care of daily tasks working with the NOC on hardware or alerts in the infrastructure. I also assist with major projects driven by business needs.

Specializing in deployments and DevOps engineering. There are several tools developed that I currently operate on and maintain. Most tools are used for alerts and awareness of issues so that the administration and engineering can satisfy service level agreement checks that we constantly do to make sure our environments are never have customer facing impacts. When upgrading systems, I work with a team to ensure the product is unaffected to the customers view and that the user experience is better afterward. I have the ability to do long work trips, rack, stack, cable, and bring machines to service level operational environments that are currently in production with this current team. I am working and progressing my knowledge of python, JavaScript, and front-end development so I can make the internal employee infrastructure better. This includes ticket systems, Kanban type flow boards. Installation is another large part of the job along with integration for current systems that run. Database Management, Web Service management and break fix work for other Linux systems issues are also tasks included with this position.

I am now working on DevOps Engineering type of setups. I work with OpenStack and write documentation for the company. I also do many computational tasks that require expert development skills and a clever mind to complete. I work with python and bash on a regular basis. MySQL has also become an everyday task along with many other services and programs that come with cloud computing. I have come to a deeper understanding of Linux, almost as a secondary language and world. I am close to becoming an Engineer or Architect rather in a personal achievement basis. I also task myself with more goals and projects on the side as practice and personal growth. Raspberry Pi's and Arduino's are something I hold major interest in.

This work is from the bottom to the top. It covers data center technician's tasks from racking new servers to maintaining current systems. This is not only with our own machines here in Texas but with remote hands services from around the world. I do extensive debugging of the internal framework. This position requires extensive knowledge of the Internet Protocol Suite and how application frameworks are designed. I work with VPN and many other services that are in today’s current market for data infrastructure solutions. My main task is to find anomalies and process a report for them to fix the bug or the issue in the framework. I also do many tasks such as monitoring the server farm and network routing health, installations, upgrades, compiling, script writing, DMCA notice processing and even write and update the wiki. My main tool is bash but my knowledge is not limited to just CLI. We have a variety of interfaces that we use for our daily tasks.

The position with this company was very rewarding. I worked many different production events. A list would include. : Willie Nelson : “A Horse called Music” Official Music Video http://www.rollingstone.com/music/videos/willie-nelson-revisits-his-past-in-a-horse-called-music-20120813 on the front page of the RollingStone.com. Chevy SXSW 2012 subcontract to edit all videos for the event page on chevy.com. There were many more events and scenes that were in my career here. I also managed the network and systems for the editing studio. Incorporating Mac, PC, and Linux to run the live edit from all firewire/cat6 connections to a UNIX storage unit. The Adobe Master Suite were the primary tools used and maintained. ( AE, Premiere, Bridge, PS, Fireworks)
