In a high paced retail environment, being able to work as part of a team in an organised manner is essential and I was able to successfully adhere to this requirement. I was a responsible team member by ensuring that I was always on time during my shifts and was constantly reliable. I demonstrated quality customer service and communication skills by having regulars who would come back. I was able to use different types of communication skills such as persuasion and influencing to increase sales but also negotiation skills which were needed when dealing with difficult customers. Pressures increase during festive seasons and I was able to withhold composure during these stressful periods while still ensuring quality customer service. Show less

I was fortunate to have had to opportunity to work as an English teacher at a summer camp in Malaysia where I was able to demonstrate not just my capability as an English teacher but other skills such as leadership skills. As a teacher, I had to lead a group of students and guide them through lessons and I was able to use a sense of humour and charisma to captivate their attention. Teaching a younger group of students required being able to be resourceful and think outside the box. For example, I had to create lesson plans which were physical activities that incorporated an English lesson. Although it was difficult being put in a place outside my comfort zone, I was persistent and successfully completed my role as a teacher during the duration of the summer camp. Show less

      • Jun 2015 - Aug 2015

Working as an interpreter and translator for an international company, I was able to be commercially aware in how businesses operate; from negotiating deals to creating and executing contracts. My position required me to work with foreign clients thus making me more culturally aware and appreciate the differences. I often had to quickly adapt to different environments as the job required me to be an expert in different fields and technical jargon in a short period of time. The need to be an expert in numerous areas allowed me to take the initiation to find out relevant information from appropriate sources. Show less
