  Consultoría Colombiana is one of Colombia’s largest consulting engineering companies with over 40 years’ experience across infrastructure, commercial, industrial and residential projects. I joined the company when it had newly formed an architecture department. I was able to play a lead role in the development of the architecture department and in the integration of architectural design into the company’s core offering, and as a standalone viable design consultancy. Due to my advanced fluency in English I was trusted to lead dealings with our international clientele. I was engaged by ITS Consultancy and Siemens to provide my architectural expertise for a feasibility study for an urban development project, and by New Age Exploration Limited for the basic design and feasibility of the mine Terranova. My architectural project portfolio was very diverse, with design projects including commercial, residential and industrial projects, including facilities, restaurants, cafés, gymnasiums and camps. I also provided technical support onsite for the construction of the largest infrastructure project at the time in Bogota, and was involved in the design of different facilities for Cerrejon Ltd (largest national coal mining and export company).

  CMB Consortium was a consortium of two major engineering and construction firms. During my time with CMB I focused on a major project ‘Transmilenio’, the construction of a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in Bogota. For this major infrastructure project the government had engaged several firms to work on different project components. I had worked on a different area of the project in my previous role as Design Architect with Consultoría Colombiana. In this Design Architect role I was responsible for monitoring the multidisciplinary work of my team’s work, providing detailed reporting, adjusting designs in line with project developments, and ensuring project work was delivered on time and to budget.

Working with one of Colombia’s largest and longest operating consulting engineering firms on a very high-profile and complex infrastructure project was a fantastic opportunity for me to bring together my experience and skill as a Design Architect. I reviewed and adjusted designs in line with project progress and developments, produced new documentation and enhance the level of detail in drawings for onsite interpretation. Following this period I was engaged by CMB Consortium to work on another area of the project.
