Adam is the kind of leader that every organization should want. He brings a level of professionalism to every interaction and is always looking to find creative ways to solve challenging problems. Not only does he bring the determination, resolve, and business acumen that is critical to a good leader, he does it with a level of patience, empathy, and understanding that brings out the best in his teams. One of his greatest strengths is the way he builds excellent teams and is always working to help them grow and thrive. He creates opportunities for individuals to learn new things and seeks to build a culture that engages his teams in a collaborative manner. I'd highly recommend Adam to any organization looking to build teams that are engaged and driven.

Adam has been an exceptional, capable, pragmatic leader in the few years that I've gotten to know him. He and the capable team he built around him have made NetHealth a better place, maturing the way we architect the future of our products. I'd welcome any chance to work with Adam again.

Led development for our largest product supporting roughly 1,800 customers with 600,000 combined active users who are themselves treating millions of patients. Responsible for $62M in annual revenue with five team leads (total team of 20), including contractors both on and offshore. * Managed the technical assimilation after the acquisition of our largest competitor. This included onboarding existing staff and supplementing them with $1.4M in contract resources, integrating them into our teams and processes, and building the plans to achieve feature parity. * Founding leader of our Pride ERG, focused on creating a welcoming and engaging environment for LGBTQ+ staff. I coordinated events, spoke to groups, and created external-facing content. We have 60 members after just six months. * Focused on creating a positive environment, reducing turnover by 73%. * Repaired damaged relationships between Engineering and the Customer Success, IT, QA and Product teams, eliminating persistent issues that hurt collaboration. * Spearheaded the largest technical debt project at Net Health, a complete rewrite of one of our core applications from FoxPro into a more modern architecture that we can support and expand upon for years to come. * Made employee development a priority by starting regular book read sessions, hosting training sessions based on Microsoft’s VSLive conferences for engineers throughout the company, and arranging for both our Development and DevOps groups to attend VSLive. All of this built upon existing materials through PluralSight and LinkedIn Learning to create a culture of continuous improvement.

      * Improved the product from having hundreds of defect tickets logged per month to three in the last year. * Implemented biweekly book reads with the team to improve our technical skills and how we approach our work. * Revamped our entire approach to testing, with new releases having over 130 manual test cases and close to 2000 unit and integration tests with over 82% code coverage via automated tests. * Rearchitected the product to fall under a single tech stack, bringing in off-the-shelf tools to remove our dependency on bespoke hardware. * Brought in the practice of conducting research spikes to better prepare the team for deliverables that were in uncharted waters. Built proof-of-concept projects that allowed us to refine our approach in test before introducing to production.

I managed twelve developers across three teams working on support and capital projects. On a day to day this ranged from working with our customer support team to track, prioritize, and resolve issues, working with the product management team to prepare for and keep projects running smoothly, partnering with the QA Manager to deliver quality work, and connecting individually with the developers on my staff to keep them on a path for growth. After the Director of Engineering left, I took over most of his responsibilities and not only kept the department running until a new Director could be hired but also managed to hire six new developers while starting up a new book read as a group and spinning up two new internal project teams and multiple outsourced teams both local and offshore. * Working with counterparts in the organization, we rolled out a new agile process focused on meeting customer need and reducing or eliminating work that doesn’t meet that need. * I created a set of training videos for both initial onboarding and for later reference that cut training time for new developers in half. * Doubled productivity on the support team by improving collaboration and shifting the team to Kanban to reduce cycle time. * Worked with and turned around our lowest performer and he's now the strongest on the team, helping others to learn and grow, and is up for promotion. * Organized book reads and engineering forums to open the teams to cross-learning and bringing in new ideas to help us overcome old problems. Visual Studio .NET 2015 and 2017 (C#), ASP.NET 4.0 & 4.5, WebForms and MVC, SQL Server 2012 & 2016, Bootstrap, Kendo UI, LESS, JQuery, CSS 2 & 3, HTML 4 & 5, VersionOne, JIRA, Bitbucket, TeamCity, Agile Scrum, Kanban, SAFe Agile, weekly one-on-ones with the developers on my staff and peer managers

I was brought on board to work with the game design and development teams in designing and developing a companion web site and social network for CCP’s latest mass-multiplayer game. For the first six months I worked alone doing requirements gathering and developing prototypes until the project was green-lighted and I became part of a team developing the results of my design work. Starting out as a part time contractor, I was quickly brought in as a full time contractor and then as a permanent employee in August of 2008. As a software developer, I was responsible for the development of a VoIP API for use by a number of desktop client applications. As development continued, I took on the role of monitoring, adjusting, and cleaning all of our services API to keep it simple and easy to use by client developers. Finally I worked with Dynno to implement streaming videocast capabilities into our services API. After only four months as a full time employee, I was promoted to Product Manager where I became responsible for the creation of our product vision, working with the legal department, developing requirements, coordinating with vendors, analyzing security issues, and working with the heads of other studios and departments to share our progress and gather their needs.

The applications developed at Timestar are intended to data mine a SQL Server database and export the results to an Excel spreadsheet. Initial work was done in Visual Basic 6 on an existing system expanding the available reports. Became solely responsible for migrating existing code and developing new code and architecture for a re-write in Visual Studio.NET. As part of this upgrade, developed a code library to simplify future conversion and new code that included data connectivity; logging; error handling and reporting; email; HTML, XML, file, date and string manipulation; Excel export; chart generation; and PDF export all of which was inline XML documented with complete technical documentation. This code library dramatically reduced the time requirements for converting existing reports and developing new ones while also increasing performance and reducing bug counts.

Developed a set of Windows and Web Services to integrate a SQL Server/ASP.NET based work order management system with JDE on an AS/400. These services have run flawlessly since implementation and have in fact provided useful log data to assist in tracking down issues within the associated applications. Created an estimate management system designed to create work estimates for our clients, integrate into both the work order management system and JDE, and provide multi-level pricing schemas to enable custom pricing at any level from a region of the country to as small as a single floor on a particular building. Despite constant scope changes and feature requests during the development process, this project has been so successful that discussion is underway to enhance this project into a full-blown replacement for the purchased work order management software.

Worked on a number of projects including development of a timecard scanning application, an application to receive warranty cards via fax, and three projects developed to collect information for financial account application. Several of these projects were developed using a code generator that was developed in-house which used XML input to generate up to 90% of the ASP.NET project in C#. Besides using this code generator, added numerous enhancements to it which provided custom output interfaces as well as enabling a significantly higher degree of input validation. Joined the design team for the next iteration of the code generator and given the task of researching and designing a graphical user interface that could be used by a non-developer for quickly and easily creating the XML seed files. Developed UI and project logos. Wrote Web Services. Used API calls to connect to Visio.

Responsible for the complete graphical and web user interface (GUI) design overhaul of the high-volume ASP.NET-based order entry and customer tracking system. Improved the performance of the order entry and customer-tracking system that resulted in speed increases in some cases of over 1000% reducing wait times from over a minute to less than 8 seconds. Additional projects included construction of Windows Services to manage financial data and translation of web-based order information from the SQL Server database used by Commerce Server to the AS/400-based accounting and inventory control system.
