(Formerly Cognius and, later, Hopjump) Focused on back-end Python work including microservices, Apache Kafka, and recently transitioning to full stack product work. I helped build the backend for our hotel booking site and helped onboard data from the SmarterTravel Media acquisition. I've built web services, small libraries, and kafka-consumer workers. Kept the lights on during wild on-call incidents. I'm most proud of the team I helped build by running technical interviews. My responsibilities included maintaining our big old dell servers which I installed and ran Ubuntu on and running a Django web service for internal use. On the wall in my shared office was a Raspberry PI running a TV to display a Nagios screen showing the status of those servers, and my proudest moment was watching it all turn green again after a brief power outage. As a part of the Luvo (formerly FlashNotes) team, I helped implement the exciting new tutoring feature on the site, which included video-conferencing integration and real time chat (to connect students to tutors). We used Django and Angular (with ES6) to build a cutting edge responsive 'microsite' to sell a new product.
