As an instructor at the Hubbs Center in 2015, I led the summer session of the College Readiness Academy Tier 2 class on the St. Paul College Campus, and was a member of the collaborative project team. Nearly 50% of the students in the class progressed to credit-bearing college classes after completing the summer session. In the fall, I taught an Advanced ELL course, building in a strong college prep component, and invited previous students as experts to present about the transition from ABE to college. In my tenure there from 2008 to 2013, I taught many levels of ESL, from pre-beginning to GED. I was part of the project team that created Career Pathways Curriculum for Intermediate ESL learners. I mentored two ABE programs in Greater Minnesota, partnering with them to embed digital literacy instruction at all levels and launch hybrid classes, as well as helping them create customized career pathways units for their learners.
