Loretta is a passionate advocate for the well-being of students at Brooklyn College. Our professional relationship spans over 10 years and during that time I have watched her encourage and nurture some of the highest risk students to ensure they have access to resources essential for their success in academia and life. I have placed several high risk students in her care as a work-study site. Each student reported back they felt heard, understood and valued. She demonstrates with her actions that it is necessary to work both hard and smart. It is critical for students to directly experience role models that understand the work of their life requires their time and attention. Loretta sees the details that motivate our actions. She looks to develop her own knowledge base through her education, volunteerism and research on and off campus and is incredibly generous with sharing her resources with the community. She is an effective researcher as well as an accomplished writer and editor. Loretta asks us to reach deeper into our experiences and the world we are working to create by working towards inclusion goals over simple diversity. Her compassion and awareness regarding what it takes to make us a strong and effective community make her a game changer. You absolutely want Loretta on your team.
