I had the chance to work with Francoise when I was a member of the board of Lycee Francais de Singapour. Francoise was in charge of the Elementary school, the fastest growing department of LFS. I was impressed by her passion for great education, her strong values and focus on practical solutions. Francoise’ international experience was key in addressing effectively the challenges a fast growing and intercultural structure like LFS faced. For 5 years, I have been the Head of the Elementary School at the French School in Singapore. In this position I accompanied the growth of the students body and the expansion of the school (student body increased by 10% each year) on two campuses. I implemented a new modern languages program as well as accompanied the teachers in transitioning to the everyday use of technologies for learning purpose (Interactive boards, tablets, learning management systems...). I have led the project of implementing new technologies for learning purpose throughout my career. My knowledge of ICT has made it possible for me to train many teachers to use them while innovating and improving their pedagogy. In 2009, when I arrived to the French School in Singapore, there were no interactive boards in the classrooms, and only few PC or tablets…Today, every classroom is equipped and the teachers use them effectively every day. As the Head of the Elementary school, I have managed the school organization and the staff. Doing so, I have changed the organization of the languages classes (schedules, classrooms and teachers distribution....), and improved the quality of the modern languages curriculum. I put in place a system to change classroom ratios allowing students to avoid being put on waiting lists. Under my management, the number of classes in the Elementary School increased from 29 in 2009 to 46 in 2013. This, of course, required expanding the teaching team and helping them transition into the new classes. All were kept up to date on our system and curriculum, as well as trained to efficiently use the new technologies in their class. This was accomplished thanks also to the rich existing potential of the team and by selecting and bringing in new team members that could also contribute to the evolution and advancement of the team as a whole.
