I worked as a Childrenswear Designer at Cohen & Wilks International, working on outerwear and multiproduct ranges for children of all ages from newborn to teen. I worked on a variety of customer accounts including Next, Matalan, TU & Shop Direct. I researched, designed & managed sampling for customer ranges, working under pressure to tight deadlines. I gained a strong knowledge of outerwear product, technical details, fabrics & fillers in this role. I have undertaken month long solo sampling trips to China, building on my knowledge of manufacturing processes and garment construction. I regularly designed graphics and prints for garments as well as working on labeling and branding. My role covered areas such as; - Trend & market research - Trade show visits - Shopping & research trips - Assisting with spec and fit development - Overseeing sampling from the UK and on sampling trips in China - Creating detailed tech packs for production, sampling & costing - Design & development of ranges - Graphic & print design - Liaising with customers, international offices & factories Show less

Pattern Cutting Intern
-
Apr 2013 - Jul 2013
I completed a 3-month internship with the Pattern Cutting Team at Christopher Kane, which helped develop my sewing and pattern cutting skills in a high end industry environment. I also worked alongside the Design, Production and Sales teams, which gave me a great insight into how the business works as a whole. I was lucky enough to be selected to work in the London Showroom as well as invited to spend 10 days working in the Paris Showroom. It was a fantastic experience and I gained a huge amount of knowledge from it. Show less

Design and Pattern Cutting Intern
-
Apr 2012 - Sep 2012
I completed a 6-month internship with the design and pattern cutting team at House Of Holland working through Pre13 and SS13. I was involved mostly with pattern cutting, toiling, and research as well as other aspects of the studio work. I was responsible for creating all the CAD technical drawings for both Pre13 and SS13. I was given the task of developing possible graphics and pattern repeats for collaborations, as well as for SS13. I worked backstage at the SS13 show dressing and organizing models as well as ensuring that all the garments were looking their best. This experience has been hugely valuable to me due to both the variety of tasks and the length of time I spent with the team. Show less
