      • NAU’s doctoral experiential component (DEC) or “residency” is an individualized, student-led, 16-week-long experience that is an integral part of the programs curriculum and is required of students prior to graduation. • A DEC student is similar to a level II fieldwork student, however we are to complete a project in addition to gaining clinical experience. Unlike fieldwork, students must complete and pass all didactic coursework and both fieldwork I and II's. • My DEC focus and project is furthering cognition/executive functioning knowledge and execution in an outpatient neuro rehabilitation setting through developing clinical practice skills, conducting research, and implementing clinician and patient resources. • Population includes males/females from age 14-65+; with majority being of the geriatric population. • Majority of caseload consisting of neurorehabilitation - CVA, TBI, neurodegenerative diseases (MS, GBS) along with general orthopedic/fractures.
