  Originally this was a Manchester/Salford based online Graphic Design/Advertising Practice, running alongside my Teaching Practice at both The Manchester College and later University of Salford on their HND Courses. Engineroomcreative is now Christchurch based, and pretty much the same set up, with online Graphic Design/Advertising Practice, feeding into my Teaching Practice at the local level.

  About 10 years ago I set up an online company, as a co-operative, largely with a view to keeping my Professional Practice work seperate from my 2nd area of Teaching. My work can be found on my 'url through Behance'.In 2008, I left this partnership to create 'engineroomcreative' as a way of furthering my Professional Practice and to Consult on 'live briefs' in education. The opportunity to explore a number of 'Creative Avenues'. 'Lost in Typography' One to One Mentoring, and finally Arts in the Urban Environment formed part of this practice.

  I managed the Short Courses department at the School for the last 5 years, developing contact bookings, and maintaining contacts for Schools (STAR) Corporate Clients and Industry Stakeholders in the CHCH and the South Island Region. Since taking on the role 5 years ago, my main aim has been to grow the business in the Canterbury region and South Island, by providing a professional level service to local High Schools, Industry and General Public. One of these initiatives being our School Holiday Programme, which runs 4 times a year for Y9 - Y13's.In addition to my Coordinator role, I also teach Graphic Design Process, Historical Contexts, Digital Skills and Professional Practice on Design for Digital Media Advanced Diploma, and now Creative Practice on our iCreate Diploma.In the last 3 years I have successfully organised a trip to Wellington for our DMA students, to see the Gallipoli exhibition at Te Papa, which also resulted in the first meeting of two DMA groups from different campuses meeting for the first time. And most notably presentations from Weta Digital Founder Matt Aitken and the last two years Kevin Romand for our Diploma Students and Campus Team.

  I had over 25 years in Industry Internationally, starting as a Junior Art Director with a small Advertising agency in Manchester, UK, rising to the role of Deputy Creative Director in Brussels and and Joint Creative Director in London. 18 of my 25 years were spent working on Branding for Corporate Identity, and FMCG Branding on packaging. My career took me to South Africa, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, with stints in the UK, in between.Specialist areas over 25 years Corporate Identity, Typography, Advertising, International FMCG Packaging, General Graphics including Promotions Campaigns in-store and exterior with TV. Above, Below and through the Line. Working in-house and online with other designers. Running live projects with students as the Lead Consultant.
