As a participant in the 2009/2010 Vacation Employment Program, Cory collaborated with senior staff by assisting planning and carrying out field work for a supervised research project. This resulted in the delivery a technical presentation to the Salinity and Water Resource Recovery branch at the Department of Water, for which he received a personal commendation from both the branch manager and the Director General of the department.
