Gordon's craft is in the way he relates. Like sportsmanship but in business, he relates with a sensitive human-ship, and an enthusiasm for the richness of life that is very dear. Rely on him for congruence, impact and a creative flow that delivers the unexpected. A true believer in collaboration, he'll highlight dimensions you thought were beneath you, and tickle them back into your stretch zone, where they belong...still. A wonderful coach, trusted adviser, leader and energy wizard, who keeps the connection alive and kicking whilst sharing his learning every step of the way. What's not to enjoy!

When you offer consultancy services yourself it is always hard to find someone who can add value in a transformational way. A lot of the time you end up thinking "OK but I know that already...and am I really learning here?" Gordon always adds value. Critical to his approach is his knack of getting behind the issue you have asked him about and focusing on the underlying issue that you hadn't even admitted to yourself. An exceptional performer!

Operationally my role was to build relationships and partnerships utilising the School's research and enterprise capability and the development and implementation of growth opportunities. Strategically I worked with the school management group to deliver a transformational programme to develop the commercial capabilities and culture of the School with a focus on long term growth in R&D funding and income. Key successes: Led the University's involvement in the bid for and subsequent launch and implementation of the £1.5m Digital Catapult Centre Brighton project, negotiating and securing the University's position as lead academic delivery partner, raising the profile of the University's R&D capability and securing further funded project opportunities off the back of the University's involvement. Led a successful consortium bid for a £1m ERDF funded project to promote SME/HEI R&D collaboration in the region in partnership with Gatwick Airport, Wired Sussex and University of Sussex. Launched a student led product design consultancy, providing live project and business experience to students, increasing their engagement and employability and the capacity of the University to respond to product design R&D enquiries.
