Joop joined AssistiveWare almost 10 years ago. He started as a web developer and Drupal expert but has since served in many capacities. For many years he was our webmaster. A few years ago he lead the transition to Craft CMS. Most recently he served as the product owner for our corporate website with a special focus on accessibility. During the pandemic he also served as our remote system administrator. But calling him a developer or techie does not do justice to his versatility. Joop’s interests are by no means limited to technology. For several years he was an active member of our communication team and even the interim communication lead for a while. He also did a number of coaching courses and for several years served as our team coach, helping people improve their communication skills and settling conflicts. During this period he actively helped reshape our approach to employee performance, engagement and professional development through the introduction of a 360 feedforward process. Joop combines a deep technical interest with great people skills, a relaxed attitude and a wide range of interests. As a company we have gone through quite a few transitions in the last 10 years as we went from a handful of employees to a team of over 30 people across the globe. We are lucky to have had someone like Joop around who was always open to changes in his role and always looking for ways to contribute and add value to the organization and the team. It is important for Joop to do something meaningful within an organization that makes a difference in the world. I am really sad to see Joop go, but I know he will be of great value to any organization he chooses to work for.
