I worked with Sue Folkerts for more than 10 years at Coinstar. Sue is a highly capable and conscientious developer who has skills in .NET, C#, C++, web services, WCF, SQL Server, and TSQL. Sue developed several key systems for Coinstar, all of which are in full operation today. She was known throughout Coinstar's development team for her lucid and comprehensive documentation, and for her deep understanding of our core systems. She was often asked to solve thorny problems that others found too complex or confusing. Sue has had plenty of recent experience with Agile methodologies. Coinstar adopted Agile as its primary development style about 3 years ago, and all development groups have been working in that mode since. In December 2013 Coinstar laid off about one third of all engineers across all lines of business. Several of the finest engineers were dismissed, irrespective of their accomplishments or their dedication. Sue's record at Coinstar certainly did not warrant the treatment she received. One thing about Sue that I appreciated is the fact that she always had a smile for everyone she met. Not only did she work hard, not only did she design, develop, and build some of the most important systems we had, but she was an absolute pleasure to work with. She is thoughtful and considerate, and she takes on every new task with a smile. I would heartily recommend Sue for any position that requires diligent effort, comprehensive knowledge of current software development technologies, an inquisitive mind, and a genial character. Sue was one of our go-to resources for kiosk data. One report in particular that Sue developed and supported was the Kiosk Uptime report. The complexities involved in monitoring uptime on close to 20k units were significant, but Sue's report made it simple.
