Voluntary role within Mind in Camden for the REST service. The REST service has been a vital, ongoing peer support service for service users struggling with the difficulties that arise from benzodiazepine dependency since 1988. I work with a range of service users, with a variety of different mental health diagnoses, dual-diagnosis and dependency. My role involves: co-facilitating the peer support group, offering personal support and care, providing advocacy, ensuring service users' needs are met, breaking down barriers of stigma, promote awareness, administrative tasks and regularly evaluating the service. Unfortunately the service's funding has been cut, so the REST service will be moving into mainstream drug and alcohol services from April 2019. Due to this I have been involved in ensuring many elements the service users rely on remain stable for the transitioning service.
