At the Young V&A, Stratos worked diligently as part of the exhibition team, ensuring that our installations and displays were well managed and delivered on budget. Stratos was a pleasure to work with, because of his collegiality, integrity and pleasant nature.

Sophie Sage

I've worked with Stratos over the last year and have watched him develop a wide variety of essential skills. From project managing a display at the Museum, to taking on the department's day-to-day administration, Stratos has been getting stuck in to all aspects of exhibitions work.

As Collections Project Officer I work towards the preparation of a new exhibition gallery as part of its re-development. Utilising new barcoding and inventory approaches and techniques, I deliver and facilitate the preparation work required for the decant of the Challenge of Materials gallery. I was playing an active role within the FuturePlan transformation of the Museum, joining the project team and helping to shape and develop one of the three permanent galleries in activating the V&A’s world leading to inspire, equip and empower audiences with creative skills for today’s world, in ways that are locally responsive and globally relevant. What is more I worked closely with and assist the Exhibitions Manager and Senior Exhibitions Manager on temporary exhibitions, touring exhibitions, displays and gallery renewals. Deputise when required for the Exhibitions Manager and take sole responsibility for occasional smaller projects as necessary. Show less

    • Collections Officer
      • May 2017 - Apr 2019

My main role is the rationalisation and organisation of the museum’s collection of textiles, medical tools, medals, archival and photographic material. Some of my duties involve managing entries for new acquisitions. In addition I am responsible for storage management making sure I identify potential objects for disposal as well as ordering in supplies via PEL. The museum of Military Medicine is planning to relocate to Cardiff in Wales by 2022. Since the summer of 2017 I am working on the preparation of the museum’s collection. That involves the freezing of the textile collection ensuring it is securely packed in acid free boxes and paper as well as recording and updating its location on the MODES software in order for the collection to be ready to move to the new museum in Cardiff. What is more I am implementing a preliminary conservation assessment of the collection and produce condition reports for each individual item of our collection. Apart from my experience on cataloguing and transport preparation I am responsible for the museum’s loans-in and loans-out procedures. What is more, I am managing the online and phone research enquiries and assisting the researchers that they are visiting the museum. Part of my role involves assisting visitors, TV companies and academics with research enquiries, using the archives database and ensuring that I am following the handling and security procedures as some of the archival material that the museum possess are sensitive and of historical importance. My main role involved the administrative support of the project plus I was acting as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. Also, I produced the object list of 193 artworks along with the loan paperwork (GIS applications). Later I organised the shipping arrangements and schedule with MoMart and Moveart. I had to monitor the expenditure of the loans shipment from the collection up to the delivery plus the expenses of the build. Finally, I produced the internal condition reports and assisted the conservation department during the preliminary conservation assessment of the incoming loans. Last but not least I assisted the prints and drawings department on the uninstallation of the exhibits and I contacted lenders and shipping agents for the safe transportation of the loans. Show less
