I began a one year term clerkship on 6/1/2021 and will end this clerkship in July 2022. In this position, I prepare pre-hearing memoranda to assist the judge in preparing for oral argument. Additionally, I perform complex legal research and writing involving intertwined legal issues on appeal. Some of these issues have already included: sufficiency of evidence; the confrontation clause; conflicts of interest; and, admissibility of evidence. Throughout this time I am required to orally present research findings and issues to the Appellate Court Judges. Lastly, this position requires keen attention to detail throughout the editing and revising stage of legal writing.

Connecticut Superior Court Law Clerk

Perform complex and extensive legal research and writing to assist the judges of the Superior Court. Prepare and meet with judges prior to short calendar proceedings to discuss the motions before the court, the parties’ memoranda, and any relevant controlling legal principles. At the request of judges, examine difficult subjects such as: doctrines relating to the tolling of the statute of limitations; statutory construction of absentee voting statutes; discovery issues surrounding a witness’s status in the United States; and the availability of governmental/statutory immunity. Thoroughly draft, edit, revise, and cite check both memoranda to judges, as well as draft memoranda of decision regarding many different questions of law.
