I have had the pleasure of working with Janna for several years now, both indirectly and together on the same team. Throughout her tenure as Academic Director, ELS implemented many major projects, requiring Directors to get up to speed quickly on new materials, train their instructional teams, and deliver the new initiatives to students. I’ve always been impressed with Janna’s keen ability to mobilize and even excite her teachers in the face of these organization-wide changes. Whether it’s new software for students, hardware for teachers, a total curriculum refresh, or the adoption of a new Academic Management System/LMS, Janna has motivated her team and empowered them to provide top-tier customer experiences. A lot of her success in this area has to do with her effectiveness as a manager and as a teacher trainer, particularly when it comes to instructional design. She is always able to take materials created for diverse groups of stakeholders and quickly translate them into clear, actionable items, for her staff. When she feels like her team needs additional support, she never hesitates to pivot on the standard materials, creating her own sources of information, in-service workshops, and scaffolded activities. She also excels at fostering staff growth by working collaboratively with them on the training deliverables, when appropriate. Janna’s local wins put her on the radar of ELS headquarters, and she was invited to join a support and training team for the central piece of academic management software used by all managers and teachers at ELS. Her role in this group saw her assisting managers across the company with issues they had with the software. She supported everything from technical glitches, to user error, to feature requests, and she fielded many other operational questions, providing additional training when necessary. She was an asset to this team and many others. I highly recommend her for a position within your organization.

It is with great pleasure that I write this recommendation for Ms. Janna Rice. In working with Janna for more than 4 years, I have always been impressed by her positive energy, her efficiency and professionalism, and her absolute talent in building morale and achieving excellence in and out of the classroom. With a focus on professional development and training, Janna revolutionizes the way teachers interact with each other, their students, and the curriculum. During the time that I was her supervisor, Janna spearheaded dozens of projects focusing on curriculum development, teacher training, and student academic support services. Janna created a peer observation project that supported instructors in reflection and analysis of their teaching style and resulted in improved instruction and more teacher collaboration. Similarly, Janna created an online platform for teachers to use in evaluating student speaking skills. She was so proficient in her support of teachers and in developing curriculum and standards, that she was invited to serve as a mentor to other Academic Directors and teachers at locations around the country. Janna's professionalism and capacity for supporting a team is matched only by her dedication to the success of students and teachers. She is passionate about education, highly effective in her methods, and compassionate to the needs and challenges of students and educators. On a personal note, she is a pleasure to work with. Janna is trustworthy and dependable, works well with little supervision, and can be relied on to enhance the team and the work environment. I recommend Janna highly for any position in which leadership, talent, compassion, and drive are necessary. She will be an asset to the team and support all around her in achieving their goals.
