Nutrition Placement Student
-
Sep 2017 - Sep 2017
My second univeristy placement was within the dietetics department of Bournemouth Hospital. This placement was mainly a shadowing placement, where I had the opportunity to sit in on various outpatient clinics such as a coeliac clinic and FODMAP session. As well as this, I shadowed ward rounds with the dietitians to see various inpatients. Over each lunch time I completed a lunchtime meal audit. This was to see if the hospital was complying with protected mealtimes initiative which had been implemented.

Placement Student- Nutrition Assistant
-
Jun 2017 - Jun 2017
I spent 10-days of my university placement at Bournemouth Foodbank as a nutrition assistant. While here I used nutrition software (NetWisp and Nutritics) to analyse the food parcels given to clients. With this information, I put together suggestions for change in a report. I then reanalysed the food parcels, to demonstrate what these small changes could do to the nutrition aspect of the food parcels. I was also on hand to provide answers to any food or nutrition related queries which the staff had, for example what was suitable for the vegetarian food packs. This industry experience improved skills and qualities of mine such as; my confidence within the industry, my ability to use my own initiative, and my communication and teamwork skills
