The company manufactured phosphate fertilizer and was a distressed company when I joined. The role is to help turn around the operations and develop a future strategy forward. I was hired as a CFO to transition into the CEO role at some time, however, the condition of the factory was such that it was too far gone and no longer functional. The additional financial investment required to rectify the issues was not economically attractive to the private equity investors and the business operation has ceased. I then helped steward them through the bankruptcy process and winding the operation down.
