The Electronic Banking (EB) Contract Administration is responsible for the setup and maintenance of EB-related contracts for ABN Amro’s business clients. Bank accounts from several banks in different countries are linked in one application and embedded in the clients own administrative systems. This enables them to receive bank statements of all the accounts and use the accounts to make payments. The EB-department also serves as a knowledge base for other departments within ABN Amro worldwide. My work involved the set up as well as advising our ABN Amro colleagues, where I particularly enjoyed the advising part of the job. The skills that I got to use while performing these tasks were: precision, knowledge of international payments, empathy and good communicative skills. Show less

    • Assistant to the Work Preparing Employee
      • Nov 2000 - Nov 2001

My work took place in - and around - the Project Office for the building of new plants at the site. As the Assistant to the Work Preparing Employee (Assistent Werkvoorbereider) I performed administrative tasks like the distribution of blueprints for the technical designs for new chemical plants. On the building site itself I processed the contractors invoices. Maintenance of the archive and keeping in touch with the contractors were also elements of my work. The Operations department is the back-office of the section 'Currency Options' of the banks dealingroom in Amsterdam. I processed several derivatives linked to currency options. Besides my regular work I also developed a manual that would speed up the learning process of new employees on Operations. In July 2000 I quit this job to commence my study Sociology in Rotterdam. I spent about 80 percent of my time on developing guidelines to streamline the outflow process of employees. These where to be used by the DNB's HR advisers. The physical end result was a booklet with clear explanations of the rules (bot legal and the company's) and a diagram that could lead the HR adviser through the process. The remaining 20 percent of my time was spent on regular acitvities on the departments support section. I was rewarded with 8 out of 10 points for my efforts and final result of this internship.
