As a former student newspaper editor myself, I feel qualified to evaluate Brian's work. The journalism of the Sagebrush was superb during Brian's tenure--which, I'm told, was one of the newsiest years in recent memory. As an editor and project manager for the Reno Gazette-Journal, I have guided several major and award-winning projects for the news organization since 2013. This includes investigations into local water use during the historic western drought, spikes inmate deaths at the Washoe County jail, and problems that face a city facing a major economic boom. I also developed and co-write The Reno Memo, a popular email newsletter about the Biggest Little City that incorporates news and humor to attract a younger audience to the RGJ's journalism.
