I worked with Danielle indirectly for over a year as a peer while at Bulb, working as a Software Engineer. I always found her to be friendly, approachable and knowledgeable about her craft. I then managed Danielle’s team for about 7 months. It was during this role I realised just how impactful she was at Bulb and the importance of her role in the engineering organisation. Her planning work was thorough and exemplary, and other members of the team benefitted directly from her mentoring. Although Danielle’s front end knowledge is at an expert level, she strives to expand her learning in back end technologies and security, playing a huge role in application security at Bulb. Danielle got a deserved promotion into line management and I once again got the opportunity to work with her as a peer again. My only regret is that I didn’t get to spend more time working with Danielle at the helms of our software teams; she is an amazing, empathetic leader who, while working in a fast paced team with a very fluid roadmap, always had her teams best interests at heart, actively developing people and finding them opportunities to grow. I would work with Danielle again without hesitation and whether staying hands-on, moving full-time into management (or a mixture of both), she would be an enormous asset to any engineering organisation.

- Built a pattern library to enable Firefly to build and test solid html, css, and js/React components, with the distinct and challenging functionality of allowing for xslt templates in a node build environment. The pattern library provides a separate environment to build and test patterns and their respective css in isolated units, with full control over data so as to test multiple variations of patterns, their groupings, and how they react to varying inputs (e.g. differing text lengths, languages, etc). Having each block isolated encourages separation of responsibilities (e.g. containers vs modules) and a modular approach. - Introduced (on front-end) and supported adoption (on back-end) of a module loader system for js development to support clean and modular development - Helped develop new conventions for css coding, leading to rulesets that are easy to understand, reason about, and modify - Introduced a test convention and framework for front-end/presentation-layer code - Built numerous modules following a responsive, mobile-first approach - Integrated pattern library into production .NET project
