This public facing role aims to create community in corporate office environments. This role involves problem solving, clear communication with varied professional parties and clients, as well as organised presentation of event information and research on corporate company. As a casual role while I was studying and travelling this experience requires quick assessment of new environments. This public facing role aims to create community in corporate office environments. Volunteer Choir Assistant

Apr 2022 - Sep 2022
I am delighted to be assisting this wonderful community choir for people living with a diagnosis of dementia and the friends or family to support them under the supervision of Zara Thompson. Through this opportunity, I have learnt more about Community Music Therapy and facilitating groups (a rare opportunity studying during covid times). I have enjoyed getting to know the community members and the opportunities to conduct the choir. This placement involved working in a multidisciplinary team to serve inpatients in the neurorehabilitation and geriatric mobility wards. The majority of referrals were for emotional support - adjusting to illness, isolation and low mood, and agitation and distress. I learnt a lot about giving space for expression and the power of language in relationships, workplaces, and self-talk. Under the supervision of Janeen Bower, during this placement I worked independently with children and their families of various backgrounds, ages, and abilities. Sessions provided the children with age appropriate stimulation as well as enjoyable experiences in the hospital to address risks of hospital trauma. Sessions provided families opportunities to connect in meaningful and developmentally normal ways. May 2014 - Sep 2021
I managed a team of approximately 15 staff members, 1-3 shifts a week. My role included staff training and skill sharing, problem-solving unexpected requests or issues, and supporting conversations that required additional attention eg staff disputes, disgruntled guests, and intoxicated guests alongside organizing rostering schedules and stock sheets. From this I developed strong communication skills, team-work and leadership skills, problem solving, and planning in fast passed environments. Being an agency staff member involved constant unfamiliar environments and learning new skills and services quickly. Through this employment, I worked in multiple high-end venues such as Crown, Sofitel, and various wedding venues where professional presentation and communication were paramount.
