Under my leadership, my fellow data colleagues and I designed and developed a future-proof BI application landscape, taking into account proven as well as cutting-edge data engineering and analytics approaches. In doing so, we were confronted with a wide variety of data sources - from ERP transactional data to latest social network performance metrics. Our team's long-term goal was to enable every colleague to make any decision, big or small, at any time based on the best quality data available. The process of establishing such an enterprise-wide, data-driven decision culture is what drove me every day. At PAUL HEWITT we achieved this by leveraging the most advanced tools available. I am a strong advocate of the cloud-first approach, so we built up our entire BI-architecture using the latest architectural best practices and most advanced tools of the Microsoft Azure tech stack without losing sight of the costs. And yes, guiding a small team, I continue to be responsible for the operation and strategic development of the ERP system based on Microsoft Dynamics NAV.It is my responsibility to develop and execute the PAUL HEWITT data strategy as well as:• Motivating a team of enthusiastic and skilled data engineers and analysts• Maintaining a holistic DWH lifecycle approach (Kimball) from business requirement definition to production• Providing up to date, cleansed and reliable data in a unified and modern data warehouse environment using Azure Data Platform Tools like Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Data Factory and Delta Lake (ADLS2)• Developing quality assured and highly performant ELT(L) processes using Spark, Python and SQL• Implementing a DataOps process to ensure efficient collaboration and high-quality results• Modeling insightful tabular models and creating easy-to-understand data visualizations using Power BI and DAX (shout-out to Adam Saxton and Alberto Ferrari)

At the beginning of my career at PAUL HEWITT, I was entrusted by the management with the project of evaluating and introducing software for holistic corporate management. The declared goal of the project was to replace various subsystems along the entire value chain in order to map data and processes in a fully integrated system.Although the road was sometimes rocky during these two years and the one or other stressful night shift was necessary, it was a helluva fun and a complete success: The project was completed in time and below budget. And we did it despite having to develop a technically complex synchronous interface to our fulfillment, not to mention the fancy new B2B web store.During the software evaluation, I was responsible for the conceptual design of a modern software selection process. The most challenging part was certainly the analysis of the existing operational processes and the creation of an As-is process model. After identifying process-specific optimization potentials, I translated those into a target process model, which served as the basis for requirements engineering. In order to find the most suitable software for PH, I compared these requirements with the market offer by using a proof-of-concept procedure and presented my vote to the management, which they agreed with.Following the selection of Dynamics NAV as the ideal software for PAUL HEWITT, I was then in charge of the tight schedule and budget of the overall project. I established an efficient project organization and implemented a suitable semi-agile project management methodology that guaranteed the ultimate success of the project. The most brainwork went into the specification of the technical documentation and target process description. Not least it was my responsibility to configure the system and organize the knowledge management and user training. If you want to learn more about me or the challenges of the project, follow the links.
