  Mechanical lead for a European Commission Horizon 2020 project to develop and test a first of its kind “wet-gap” permanent magnet generator for a design life of 20 years in a subsea environment. Worked with generator manufacturers to downselect a rotor and stator encapsulation design suitable for subsea use.Developed maintenance protocols for the reduction of OPEX in a remote deployment setting. Outcome of this project saw a 30% reduction of weight of our generator system and allowed maintenance intervals to be carried out onsite using local personnel and equipment.Designed a novel testing method and rig for a composite marine hydrokinetic turbine foil as part of a project funded by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland. Investigated the difference in structural performance between fixing methodologies and the performance of a powder epoxy resin-based composite design.Involved in the day-to-day design of ORPC's power systems including testing, structural design and manufacturing.
